Why 24 Chromosome PGD testing? or the alternate title, That Embryo Looked Perfect on Paper, but…

Hot off the presses this morning …

Our beautiful 6BA hatching blast had a rare trisomy 4 (ie. 3 copies of chromosome #4). Every single cent we spent on Day 5 PGD / CSS testing seems A-OK to us now.

  1. I hate that your beautiful blast wasn’t perfect but am so, so glad that you found out now, rather than endure the potential heartbreak of a loss later. Some of our best blasts were “broken”, too. PGD/CCS really is an amazing (albeit ridiculously expensive) tool to have in your arsenal.

  2. Oh no. Does that change the June transfer date or are you going forward with the other blast? When do you get results on the endometrial biopsy?
Whatever June brings (another IVF cycle or transfer) I sure hope it’s successful.

  3. What pgd thread do you belong to? My dh and I just did a donor egg cycle and have 4 normal embryos. They are hatching blasts- AB, AB, BB, and BB. We are transferring one because of the 85% chance each will implant. Just want to do what is best for the baby since there can be so many more complications with twins.
